NORWEGIAN LNG CRUISE FERRY BEGINS TESTING

Fjord Line, a Norwegian shipping company, is testing the second of two dedicated LNG cruise ferries. The two identical ferries are the largest cruise ferries in the world powered solely by LNG. Both ships will be operational this spring, ahead of when the more stringent 2015 emission standards come into effect. “In this way Fjord Line will meet the new, stricter standards for sulfur content in fuels long before the deadline in 2015,” said CEO Ingvald Fardal. Each ship is over 500 ft. long and has space for 1,500 passengers and decking for up to 600 cars, trucks and cargo.
