GREEN ALTERNATIVE SYSTEMS TO SUPPLY CNG VANS TO TAMPA AREA TRANSIT FLEET

Green Alternative Systems (GAS), a transit fleet conversion company, will supply 28 new CNG converted vans to replace the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority’s (HART) current diesel-powered models. In early 2015, HART plans to replace its retiring diesel buses with 22 new CNG buses. The vans will be deployed during the coming weeks. HART anticipates a total of 59 CNG vehicles to be in service by the end of 2015. In support of the new natural gas fleet, HART opened a $5.5 million CNG facility in April. In attendance at the station’s opening ceremony were nearly 100 community stakeholders. HART Board of Directors Chairperson Councilman Mike Suarez thanked the many community partners who worked to make this innovation a reality.
