TEXAS CITY RECEIVES ALT FUELS GRANT TO PURCHASE CNG REFUSE TRUCKS

On Tuesday, the City of Temple, Texas, received two grants from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, totaling $60,000. These grants will provide funds to off-set the purchase costs of two new CNG solid waste refuse trucks. The City Council approved the purchase of the two CNG vehicles in December 2013. The received grants assist the City in continuing its program of converting the majority of its solid waste fleet to an appropriate alternative fuel under its Sustainability Management Plan, which was adopted in January 2012. The plan commits the City to a clean, safe and healthy environment by exercising sustainable practices that focus on environmental and economical stewardship. The City’s fleet, which is composed of over 450 vehicles, will benefit from the use of diverse and alternative fuels. For more information, contact Shannon Gowan at 254.298.5600.
