Wärtsilä to Support Gas Powered LNG Carriers in Nigeria

Wärtsilä has signed a five-year maintenance agreement with Bonny Gas Transport Limited (BGT), a subsidiary of Nigeria LNG Limited, to monitor and service the engines on board the BGT’s six new LNG carriers and deliver spare parts, as well as expertise for inspections and major service overhauls. Nigeria LNG Limited exports most of its cargo to the European Asian markets. The six LNG carriers are equipped with five Wärtsilä 50DF engines each and operate primarily on gas.

Wärtsilä’s Dynamic Maintenance Planning (DMP) concept utilizing Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) will determine the actual engine maintenance needs. Bonny Gas Transport will also have around the clock access to online operational and technical support. The contract is the first of its kind for Wärtsilä in Africa.
