SCAQMD Webinar to Discuss Prop 1B Funding for Natural Gas Trucks

On June 23, 2016, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) will hold an educational webinar to discuss the Proposition 1B funding that became available earlier this month. The $50 million in available funding is seen as a great driver for further natural gas truck deployments in California, especially for trucks featuring the new Cummins Westport Near Zero NOx natural gas engine.

The Proposition 1B Program is administered by a partnership between SCAQMD and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to quickly reduce air pollution from freight movement along California’s trade corridors. Projects must achieve early or extra emission reductions not otherwise required by law or regulation. The funding provides for up to $200,000 in truck replacement costs for clean advanced technologies and up to $100,000 for zero emission transport refrigeration units (TRUs).

The complimentary webinar is open to the public to ensure fleets in California that operate Class 6, 7 or 8 trucks, as well as those who own and operate (or are looking to own and operate) fueling infrastructure for trucks, are well aware of the funding that could be available to them. The one-hour webinar will explore Proposition 1B funding for heavy-duty truck replacements, TRUs and supporting infrastructure.

Topics covered will include dey eligibility criteria, technology options and funding amounts, deadlines and application overview, SCAQMD responses to questions submitted by webinar attendees when registering.
