National Road Rally Launches to Address Benefits of Natural Gas Vehicles

Rally to Make 14 Stops Nationwide

Washington, DC — Today, NGVAmerica is teaming up with the American Gas Association and the American Public Gas Association to launch the 2018 Drive Nat Gas Coast-to-Coast NGV Road Rally. This four week, 5,000+ mile, 14 stop cross country excursion highlights the benefits of natural gas use in transportation.

“Clean air starts with clean vehicles, and the cleanest heavy-duty engine in the world runs on natural gas,” said Dan Gage, President of NGVAmerica.  “We are fortunate to have partners here locally who understand the importance of implementing affordable natural gas solutions in everyday life.  And we ask local elected officials and policy makers to join with them to promote and increase natural gas use in transportation that will result in protecting our environment, cleaning our air, and expanding our economy.”

Beginning on the East Coast and concluding at the start of NGVAmerica’s 30th Anniversary Annual Meeting and Industry Summit in Palm Springs, California, the 2018 NGV Road Rally itinerary includes multiple formal stops:

As a low cost domestic fuel option, natural gas is an American solution, delivering the largest and most cost-effective reductions in transportation-related pollutants than any other powertrain option commercially-available today.  And when fueled by renewable natural gas captured from agricultural, food, landfill, or wastewater waste, even greater CO2 and greenhouse gas emission reductions are achieved, helping to clean our cities and improve the environment.  With renewable natural gas, the product becomes carbon neutral or even carbon negative.

Natural gas delivers more new vehicles and far greater emission benefits for the investment than any other alternative.  No other transportation fuel is as sustainable, adaptive, and competitive across all vehicle classes.  Natural gas currently powers passenger vehicles, medium-duty work vehicles, short- and long-haul trucks, school buses, transit buses and shuttles, refuse trucks, construction and mining equipment, marine vessels, and locomotives.

2018 Road Rally sponsors and venue hosts include:  American Gas Association, American Public Gas Association, CenterPoint Energy, Clean Energy Fuels, the Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas, Dallas-Fort Worth Clean Cities, DTE Energy, Enestas Natural Gas, Freedom CNG, Gain Clean Fuel, Gibson County Utility District, Houston Galveston Clean Cities, Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia, New Jersey Natural Gas, NGVAmerica, Oklahoma Natural Gas, Ozinga Energy, Quantum Fuel Systems, SoCalGas, Trillium, TruStar Energy CNG, Texas Natural Gas Vehicle Alliance, UGI Utilities, UPS, VIA San Antonio, WEH US, and X3CNG.
