Final Plan

In May 2019, the final Beneficiary Mitigation Plan was issued.  The plan appears to follow the grant amounts or percentages for different types of equipment authorized under the settlement agreement.  The Plan includes the following distribution or allocation of funds:

  • Class 8 Local Freight Trucks & Port Drayage Trucks - 10% or $2.16 million
  • Class 4 – 7 Local Freight Trucks – 13% or $2.8 million
  • Class 4 – 8 School, Shuttle or Transit Bus – 25% or $5.4 million
  • Forklifts & Port Cargo Handling Equipment – 4.5% or $975,000
  • DERA Option – 4.5% or $975,000
  • Freight Switchers – 12% or $2.6 million
  • Ocean-Going Vessels Shore-Power 4.5% or $975,000
  • Light Duty ZEV Infrastructure – 15% or $3.25 million

Funding Opportunity - Deadline for Applications Aug. 31, 2020

The ADECA Energy Division intends to issue awards totaling no more than $5,810,000. Eligibility Eligible applicants are Government and Non-Government entities looking to upgrade equipment approved by the Volkswagen Settlement as Eligible Mitigation Actions in order to reduce NOx emissions.  Funding levels generally follow the grant requirements found in the VW Settlement, however, government entities applying for on-road vehicles must provide a minimum cost-share of 20 percent for repowers and new vehicles. Applications shall be submitted in PDF format by email to vwsettlement@adeca.alabama.gov. Applications will be accepted starting on June 15, 2020.
