On June 29, 2018, the Environment Department announced a new funding opportunities using VW Settlement Funds. Applications should be submitted between July 2 and Sept. 14, 2018. According to the notice, funding is available for all types of entities. Qualifying projects must demonstrate a reduction in NOx, and meet the criteria outlined in the Settlement Agreement. The notice indicates that applicants must use the Argonne National Laboratory’s Heavy-Duty Vehicle Emissions Calculator found at: https://afleet-web.es.anl.gov/hdv-emissions-calculator/. The Settlement Agreement allows NMED to approve funding for up to one-third of the State’s initial allocation in the first year. There will be at least two additional opportunities to submit applications for funding future projects. These opportunities will be available in 2019 and 2020, and possibly beyond.
