Funding Opportunity - Deadline November 6, 2020
The Department of Environmental Quality is accepting applications for project funding from the Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust. Eligible projects include those that reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides and identified in the settlement under categories 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 and 8. The DEQ notice indicates that it may issue up to $2.7 million in funding for eligible vehicles and equipment. More information, program guidelines and all the necessary application materials are available at https://deq.nd.gov/AQ/planning/VW.aspx. Please be aware that the funding levels provided by North Dakota are generally less than the maximum levels allowed under the settlement. For example, funding levels for new non-government Class 8 trucks are limited to 13% of the total cost of new alternative fuel or diesel truck (25% for drayage truck) and for government fleets the maximum is 50 percent. The notice also expressly excludes long haul trucks from consideration. The application deadline is Nov. 6, 2020.
